A very good round up of the performance of Kate’s singles and albums in music charts around the world can be found on Music Chart Heaven
This is where you find that Aerial and King of the Mountain did better in Sweden (no.2) than in the UK (no.3), The Kick Inside did better in the Netherlands than in the UK (same chart positions), that The Man With the Child in His Eyes was no.1 in France, and many other strange and interesting things.

Aerial charted at #2 in Finland, not Sweden =)

Thanks for setting it straight 🙂

As a Finn I’ obliged to correct: Aerial and King of the Mountain were #2 in Finland, not in our beloved neighbor and archrival Sweden 🙂

Its interesting how Kate Bush and her music is perceived around the world and where her albums and songs stand in the charts of these various countries. For example, some commentators (such as D. Withers) claimed she was virtually unknown in the U.S. I don’t think that is entirely true. I remember in the early 1980s the record stores here in North Carolina carried her albums as well as posters of her that hung on their store walls. As if she were an up and coming star. She had some substantial promotion and exposure in the U.S. particularly in the late 70s throughout the 1980s, as well as radio play on major commercial air time on local stations. Though it is true she wasn’t promoted quite to the level like other mega stars i.e. Kiss Madonna, Lady Gaga Rolling stones ect. she was not a wallflower either of obscurity. The European markets seem to be more sensitive though to her artistry than ‘the U.S. mass production mass exposure bizarreness’ of building celebrities as icons of the U.S. music industry, for the hordes of the public to chime in on via cable music stations, radio, DVDs ect..
